John to Host Building a Better Providence Fundraiser
Tue, 07/28/2009Dear Friends,
On August 4, 2009, I intend to stand before the Rhode Island Building Trades at a fundraiser on my behalf and, in effect, offer each and every member a City job.
Now certainly they will NOT be of the "no show" variety.
In fact, these will be among the most critically important and demanding jobs in the history of Providence.
I'm going to ask one and all to help me rebuild Providence ... to reimagine and reinvigorate and restore to greatness the city we love ... the city we are on the verge of losing.

A History of Mayoral Pyromania
Thu, 06/11/2009As far back as 2004, Mayor Cicilline has been more intent upon starting labor negotiations-related fires than extinguishing them.
The following excerpts from stories in, and my op-eds and letters to the editor of the Providence Journal date back to September, 2004. They underscore the fact that today's "crisis" arising from the City-Local 799 imbroglio might easily have been averted at numerous points over the past five-plus years. Why, we are left to wonder, has Mayor Cicilline preferred to fan the flames rather than to douse them?
